Born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, my goal as an artist is to both create and reproduce great works of art and pieces of aesthetic beauty for a working-class audience at accessible prices. My appreciation of fine art initially spawned my study of painting. When visiting art museums, I used to wonder how such beautiful works were created. In an effort to better understand, I began dabbling with a paint brush, initially learning techniques through books and later taking a few classes. Having never received a formal education in painting, I develop my artistry through imitation of the painters I admire. I am filled with a positive sense of esteem when I paint. The process of my craft, my spiritual calling, creates a sense of physical and mental focus that both soothes and invigorates my soul after a challenging day of receiving bumps and bruises from the working world. The sense of well-being that I have been blessed with through my craft portrays one part of my enthusiasm for painting. My motivation for painting also stems from a desire to share the emotion, joy, and beauty of a finely-crafted work of beautiful art with others. It is not my goal to make elite artwork, but to keep my pricing reasonably affordable so that the working class can enjoy a piece of hand-crafted artistry and hopefully bring some beauty to their homes and lives.
